Fishing-for-Wives

 

 

Fishing for Wives is a comedy-of-errors by Edward Sakamoto which received its New York premiere in 2014 on Theatre Row in NYC, courtesy of the Pan Asian Repertory Theatre. Set in 1913 Hawaii, two Japanese immigrants – Nishi and Aoki – live a lonely lives as fisherman on Big Island. One day, Nishi decides to solve his woman troubles forever by sending for a mail-order bride from Japan. Thinking of his fisherman friend as the more handsome of the two of them, he uses Aoki’s photo instead of his own.
